This photograph came about through a rather special encounter. The fox had begun visiting a friend's back door each evening in the hope of receiving a few chicken scraps. Andy set up his camera and lighting and waited patiently for the opportunity to photograph this beautiful wild visitor at close quarters.
The result is a wonderfully characterful portrait — alert, curious and perhaps just a little expectant. We still think the expression says, “Where's the chicken?”
The deep black background continues around the wrapped edges of the canvas, allowing the fox to remain fully visible on the front while giving the finished piece a clean, dramatic appearance.
